Letter Game

Description

Letter Game is a group game for 2 to 4 players that challenges children to identify letters through sounds, images, and words. To begin, the cards are shuffled and distributed face down equally among the groups. Letter tokens are placed between the two groups. On each turn, the first group reveals a card and identifies the first letter of the pictured word by its sound. For example, if the picture represents a word beginning with the /m/ sound, the group identifies the letter “M.” The group then finds three words that contain that letter. Without directly mentioning the target letter or the word shown on the card, they say the three words aloud to the opposing group. The second group listens carefully and tries to identify the letter shared by all three words. If they guess correctly, they collect the corresponding letter token and the game continues. By combining images, sounds, and words, Letter Game gives children an engaging way to practice letter recognition, listening skills, vocabulary, and the connection between sounds, letters, and words.
